The wedding took place at the Santo António de Nova Oeiras church on May 28th 1999, followed by the reception at Quinta das Lesmonas, Cascais.
All the preparations and plans paid off and the wedding went on without major dramas.
To ensure that the guests "behaved" in the proper manner the "Men in Black" were brought in directly from Hollywood as can be seen in the photo on the right.
The bride and groom where so excited with the car that they forgot that toll must be paid in the Portuguese highways. The lady at the toll gate was so moved by the embarrassment of the newly weds that she wished them happiness and let them go without paying. It was a relief for the guests that patiently ( and starving of course...) waited at the entrance of Quinta da Lesmonas for the bride and groom.
The photo session took for ages as you can imagine. To make sure they stood out from the crowd the "important" males wore identical socks
Cagi organised a Angolan band with a famous singer Nelo to play at the party. Our Friend Nelson Gaspar, also an accomplished singer, could not help but singing some of his past hits.
It was a very happy and noisy gathering with every guest dancing the night away. We danced until earlier hours in the morning and had to stop when the neighbours complainned about the noise.
The first anniversary celebrations took place in Lena and Cagi's home at Oeiras. Unfortunately we were not able to attend.
Family and friends atended the party. The karaoke session lasted for a long time with would-be singers impressing the audience but no one got any recording contract.
